Lividian Publications is incredibly proud to announce our most ambitious undertaking ever: the Robert McCammon Library, a new hardcover series created to publish every Robert McCammon book in a unified set meant for both readers and collectors alike. The debut volume is Baal, Robert McCammon’s first novel, which was originally published in 1978. This new special edition includes the complete novel, an introduction by the author, a full-color frontispiece by François Vaillancourt along with ten black-and-white interior illustrations, and “When the World Goes to Hell: Apocalyptic Horror and Human Evil in Robert McCammon’s Baal” by Mathias Clasen, the acclaimed Danish scholar of horror fiction.

We’re going old school on the production of this Lettered Edition to make it beautiful, affordable, and published on a reliable schedule. Our binder will take book blocks from the Limited Trade Edition and rebind them with custom endpapers, a full-color frontispiece, a sewn-in satin ribbon page marker, a beautiful binding material, and a signature sheet signed by Robert McCammon and François Vaillancourt. After the books are completed, a custom traycase in a matching material will be constructed to house and protect these fine editions. This approach is by far the best way to marry beauty and affordability in a special edition, and these will be our most obtainable Lettered Editions in many years.

About the Book:
A woman is ravished…
and to her a child is born…
unleashing an unimaginable evil upon the world!

And they call him Baal in the orphanage, where he leads the children on a rampage of violence…in California, where he appears as the head of a deadly Manson-like cult…in Kuwait, where crazed millions heed his call to murder and orgy.

They call him Baal in the Arctic’s hellish wasteland, where he is tracked by the only three men with a will to stop him: Zark, the shaman; Virga, the aging professor of theology; and Michael, the powerful, mysterious stranger.

A stunning debut, Baal is raw, ambitious, and terrifying, a vision of evil spreading across the modern world with apocalyptic force. From its shocking opening to its frozen, nightmarish climax, this is the first glimpse of the imagination that would make Robert McCammon one of horror fiction’s essential voices.
