Baal by Robert McCammon
Book #1 in the Robert McCammon Library
Answering some frequently asked questions!
We really couldn’t be more thrilled with the response to the Robert McCammon Library announcement. We’re truly looking forward to making this journey with so many fellow fans. There were a few questions/concerns that I saw online over the weekend, so I wanted to address them for everyone:
Q: Will these be carried by Amazon and Barnes & Noble and other big box stores?
These editions will not be distributed to larger retailers. As part of our efforts to keep the pricing as affordable as possible, we have foregone that line of distribution because they often require 50% to 60% of the retail price, which means increasing the price to cover their cut in addition to paying for production, rights, etc.
Q: Where can I order Baal? I live outside the US, do you have any retailers closer to me?
A: In addition to our own online store, we have booksellers all over the world including the UK, Germany, and Australia:
Bad Moon Books
Buchheim Verlag (Germany)
Camelot Books
Cemetery Dance Publications *
Cracked and Spineless Books (Australia)
Jake’s Rare Books
Kathmandu Books
Midworld Press
Overlook Connection
Pat Cramer, Bookseller
SST Publications (UK) *
Subterranean Press *
Veryfinebooks
Ziesings
Q: Will the font size be large and readable?
Yes! The entire goal of the Robert McCammon Library is to publish durable and readable editions that can be handed down to the next generation of fans. The fonts used will be similar in size to those in our Limited Edition of Leviathan. A screenshot comparing the same page of the trade hardcover and the Limited Edition is below. The trade edition was 375 pages and the Limited Edition was 510 pages. Same content, though.
Q: What about the Matthew Corbett books? Will they be included? Do we finally get a fully matching set??
A: The plan is to tackle all ten books, creating the first completely unified set of this incredible series.
Q: The price of Baal seems reasonable but I’m worried you’re going to jack the prices way up with the larger books later on when people are committed to the set!
In this day and age, I absolutely hear where someone is coming from with this concern. But my love of Robert McCammon’s books is one of the reasons I even started writing as a kid, and I’ve been honored to publish dozens of his books at two different companies over the last 20 years. My intentions here are simple: to build something special for fellow fans who want to celebrate an incredible body of work by an incredible author. Longer books will certainly have higher prices due to increased production costs, but my goal is to keep them as affordable as possible without compromising the materials essential for the long-term durability of the books.
